Even though today is cold and windy. I took these pictures on March 9, but nothing has changed much because many of the days since then have been cold – keeping the blooms from opening. I backed off a bit to show a wide shot. I still marvel that these crocuses were planted almost 50 […]
~~~ Friday, March 3 ~~~ This mockingbird visited us about 3:25 pm. It seemed to be enjoying the suet – and not too alarmed that I was nearby. A few fun facts on the Northern Mocking Bird: A male may learn around 200 songs throughout its life. Both males and females sing a varied, repetitive […]
~~~ Wednesday, March 8 ~~~ We love when our grandchildren stop in to show or tell us exciting news. It is easy for Ian to stop in after work because his parents live only a mile from us. He has been shopping for a car for the last few years to replace his Ford Explorer. […]
~~~ Tuesday Evening, March 7 ~~~ It was time for Cerwin’s siblings (minus Bob and Doris who live in Minnesota) to get together. We chose Lititz Family Cupboard since it will be closing at the end of April. Velda, Mel, Pat, Elvin and Cerwin. It’s always good to catch up on each other’s lives.
~~~ Saturday, March 4 ~~~ We drive by the Homestead Pond quite often and keep watching for it to be filled full enough to overflow the drainpipe. It’s almost there. Larry (a Homestead owner) told us that he plans to add an extension to the drainpipe, so the pond adds even more water. That evening […]
~~~ Sunday, March 5 ~~~ Our first visit was with Cerwin’s Aunt Esther at Fairmount Homes Retirement Community. She is a sister to Cerwin’s dad. We had a great visit including a few interesting moments when Cerwin told her some of his memories of her dad – his Grandpa High – and that reminded her […]
~~~ Saturday, March 4 ~~~ We waited until 10:30 to leave the house, because our main goal was getting cheeseburgers for lunch – at our niece, Karen and her daughter-in-law, Steph’s food stand. They serve soup and meat from their stash of meat from the Homestead next to us. I was so busy eating my […]
~~~ Friday, March 3 6:25 am ~~~ The ground fog almost made it look like we live next to a lake. But as I live, the earth will be filled with My brilliant glory. God ~ Numbers 14:21 The Voice
~~~ Thursday, March 2 ~~~ Diane left our place about 7 am before stopping at Nate and Abby’s to say goodbye to them and get some meat for their freezer in Maine. She had been here for more than three weeks after arriving on Monday, February 6 for the purpose of helping their daughter Abby […]
~~~ Friday, February 24 9:03 am ~~~ The one time I like when starlings invade our feeders is when the seed and suet is old, because they will clean up almost everything in a short period of time. Interesting facts from the internet: Starlings are highly vocal and are only silent when molting. The males […]
~~~ February 24 8:00 pm ~~~ Sometimes when I go outside before bedtime, the crispness of the night almost takes my breath away. The church is about a mile away across the fields. The waning crescent moon just hung there like a smiling mouth.
~~~ Sunday, February 26 5:43 PM ~~~ We wanted to make sure that Abby had time to heal and relax from the birth of Renee before adding to the excitement of their household, so checked what time worked on Sunday. The best timing was after we attended the memorial service for our friend Alvin Wise. […]
~~~ Monday February 20 through Wednesday February 22 ~~~ One of the nice things about babysitting Anthony, Jasmine and Natalie during the time their mom gave birth to their sister Renee is that their grammy Myers is also here. I got light duty, doing fun things. Grammy Myers changed diapers, gave baths and put them […]
~~~ Friday, February 24 ~~~ I noticed that many of you had crocus blooming a week or two before us, maybe it’s our location in northern Lancaster County next to the mountain. These are in a patio garden near the house. The larger bed in the middle of the driveway will be blooming before long. […]
~~~ Sunday Afternoon, February 19 ~~~ After church, then enjoying interesting conversation and a delicious lunch prepared by Jeff, we went out to the barnyard to see the new calf. She wasn’t very close to the barn, and it was a cold, wet, windy day so we didn’t try to get a close-up shot. Jeff […]
