Breakfast with Friends and Meeting Our New Grand Dog

Saturday, October 10

We enjoyed our quarterly breakfast at Olde Hickory Restaurant with Cerwin’s hunting friends. There were mostly High’s this time. Left side of the table – clockwise: Ronnie High, Marv (Tex) High, Cerwin High, Eloise High, Phoebe and Glenn Burkholder, George Eckman, and Marv High (Eloise’s husband). It seems they always come up with a memory of hunting days that I hadn’t heard before – or for a very long time.

From there we went to Jeff’s house to deliver chili con carne from his sister Deb and to meet Remington (Remi) our new grand dog.

He is nine weeks old and never stops moving. I am surprised these pictures are not blurred. 🙂

He has only been at Jeff’s house about a week and is having fun getting acquainted with nine-year-old Charlie. Remi is a Fox Red Lab and Charlie is a Chocolate Lab.

Remi wears out Charlie with all his antics, but I think he has brought new life back into Charlie’s life after Jeff’s other dog died a couple of years ago. They keep an eye on each other and always seem to know what the other is doing.

After a bit, both dogs laid down for a nap at opposite ends of the porch. Charlie stirred first and immediately checked on what Remi was doing. When Remi heard that Charlie was awake, he opened his eyes to check on him.

I love how dogs seem to know that another dog is something of their own kind.
