It’s been a slow week – which is nice – but I was ready for some backroad driving.

First, I took some paperwork to a neighbor, He wanted a professional letter to reply to a business situation. Then we drove to Schaefferstown for lunch at Dutch Way Restaurant. I had a delicious chicken wrap. Cerwin chose a breakfast omelet. Then we went to their grocery store (same building) for a few items. I especially needed carrots for a beef stew, and there is no longer one of their delicious homemade chicken pies in our freezer. The pies work nicely for a Sunday lunch. I set the timer on my oven, and the pie is ready when we get home from church.

Cerwin noticed that a nearby gas station had a good price for gas, so we stopped there before driving through Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area.

It was the middle of the day, so we didn’t expect to see much wildlife, but it was good to see an egret.

It was kind of far away, but still easy to see.

A first I thought this was a rock, then noticed movement. It was a great blue heron. It was even farther away from our car than the egret, so I was pleased to be able to identify it with my camera.

We continued to Big John Nolts BBQ and Catering deli where we purchased a few prepared meals for the freezer and a delicious peach pie to enjoy for the next few days.

Our next stop was Fox Meadows Creamery where we got ice cream. We are almost out of ice cream and that is not good at our house. This time I got one of my favorites – Chocolate/Raspberry/Truffle. I chose Peanut Butter Bliss for Cerwin.

Now we are home and feeling like we accomplished something today. 🙂
