Now We Wait for the Grass to Grow

Tuesday, August 25

After having two trees and many stumps removed from our yard last week, we called Dave from Hershey Landscaping and told him of our need to have the stump areas filled with topsoil, leveled, and seeded with grass.

They showed up shortly after noon yesterday and began by taking this machine over each spot to stir up the area and remove parts of stumps that were left behind.

As he worked the soil, these three worked on the areas by hand, physically removing debris.

The truck on the left was filled with top soil and the one on the right was eventually filled with stump pieces and debris.

Working on the area that is closest to the road where two stumps had been removed.

Leveling this area with topsoil.

Seeding each area with grass seed.

I was interested in seeing how this machine was going to work. It appeared to be what they would use to put straw on the newly seeded areas.

We went outside and sat on our deck chairs as we watched this process of spraying straw on the bare spots.

The front bucket on this tractor held the straw bales while the blue machine shredded the bales so the workers could spray straw on the ground.

If you look closely, you can see one of the men putting a bale into the machine.

This is the large area where the two large trees were taken down last week. Because the trees were so large, their shade kept grass from growing under them, so the entire area was prepared and seeded.

We are looking forward to this area looking like a lawn instead of so many bare spots due to the heavy shade.

All finished.

It is so nice to see our yard looking level and without tree stumps.

If you live in our area, and need yard or landscaping services we highly recommend Hershey Landscaping LLC.
