It was late morning when we began to hear the sounds of equipment harvesting corn from the field across the road. The field in front of the corn is soybeans which are turning yellow – meaning it will also be ready for harvest in the near future.

The truck in the middle of the picture is returning to the field (by a field lane) after unloading the corn fodder in a trench.

It was about 2 pm when the equipment left this field, so we figured they would come back another day.

When we woke up the next morning the field was empty of corn, which means they worked all night.

If you look closely (under the wires), you can see the trench is full of corn silage. Silage is produced when the equipment chops the entire stalk, including the corn. The cattle enjoy this mix until next fall.
