Removing Lots of Tree Stumps from Our Yard

August 18-20, 2026

In our attempt to make our yard easier to care for, we had 21 tree stumps removed.

These two bugged us the most because they were close to the road where everyone could see them.

There were a few stumps from when we cut down a dead tree before construction of our house in 1967.

This area included some where the trees were taken down in the late 1950s when Daddy sold some mature locust trees to a logging company.

Other stumps are here because the tree was damaged during a storm or was killed by the Ash Borer.

An All Season Tree and Bucket Service employee came in the middle of the afternoon on Tuesday then came back on Wednesday when the maple and hickory trees were being taken down (previous post), He finished the job on Thursday morning.

It was fun watching this operation because it was done remotely.

He did this same operation with each stump, except a few that could be removed with his skid loader (or whatever that was).

He finished his time here with his toughest and longest job – removing the new, large stumps from the trees that were taken down the day before.

When we told this young Amish man’s boss that we were impressed with his skill and work ethic. Amos said, “He just started working for me on Monday.” He began work here on Tuesday.

Most spots now look something like this. It will be nice that Cerwin no longer has to mow around stumps or weed eat around them.

This is the area where the maple and shag bark hickory stood the day before.

This spot next to our garage looks empty, but it will give us more peace of mind during windstorms.

Our next job is to have Hershey Landscaping come and plant grass in each of the spots where tree stumps once stood.
