Soybean Harvest

Saturday, October 10

It was interesting to watch two different farms having their soybeans harvested at the same time. That was because the beans were ready and the next day (Sunday) was supposed to be a full day of rain.

I first noticed the combine below our yard. The stalks and trash come out the back, and the soybeans go into the bin on top.

When the bin was full, it was put into the big rig waiting for it at the edge of the field.

The same thing was happening across the road from our house.

The only difference between the two farms was that the one across the road was seeded with a winter crop before the end of the day.

Both farmers probably rested in peace while they watched the heavy rain on Sunday.

I talked to the one farmer at church. He said they had a bumper crop of soybeans.
