Secret Sister’s Luncheon

Sunday, October 11

Following the morning services at White Oak Church many of the ladies and a few girls met in the fellowship hall for our anual Secret Sister’s Luncheon

The committee had the room and tables decorated beautifully – creating an uplifting atmosphere to the dreary day on the outside.

We were instructed to get our salad before finding a seat at one of the tables.

There were a few choices of hot drinks. I chose hot apple cider.

Abigail opened with welcome thoughts, a few instructions, and prayer for the meal.

The main course was a choice of sandwiches and soup.

There were many white pumpkins/gourds that were used for decorations. We were encouraged to each take one home. I chose this small one.

Following the meal, Juliana invited Marilyn to the podium…

…and prayed with her before she shared her thoughts on hospitality and caring for others.

She showed us the book from which she drew many of her thoughts.

Internet photo of the book.

After sharing some challenging and encouraging thoughts, she had a committee member hand out this take-home card she had created for each of us – a favorite quote that she keeps on her refrigerator.

Then it was time for dessert – which was created by most of the ladies in attendance.

We were supposed to bring one of our favorite desserts cut into small pieces our in small cups, so everyone had a chance to taste what they wanted.

We were also asked to sent the recipe to Juliana so they could be compiled into a small recipe booklet.

These small Jello and ice cream desserts were my contribution.

My sweet Secret Sister for 2026 was Colleen who is pictured here with me and their new daughter Lainey. She has been so gracious and generous during the year – staying secret until late summer just before Lainey was born.

She offered to bring me home from church, so Cerwin didn’t have to come for me – or both have to drive to church. Her final gift was this beautiful flower arrangement.

Now Secret Sisters starts over for 2027.
