Day 1 of Our Trip to Maine

We left home shortly after 8:30 am this morning in a light drizzle that lasted most of the day.

During our drive to today’s destination – a motel in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Cerwin turned the wipers on and off many times.

The price of gas was really good at our first stop in Bloomsbury, New Jersey.

The heaviest drizzle and fog happened shortly after the fuel stop.

We saw lots of beautiful fall scenery that was a bit dulled because of the cloudy, drizzly day.

We each enjoyed a Chick-fil-A sandwich at this rest stop in New York.

There were lots of pretty leaves as we continued through New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

This is my favorite shot of the day. There was a period of time between noon and 2 pm when the sun peaked out now and then.

Cerwin no longer likes to make the 10-hour drive to Mark and Diane’s (our daughter) place in Maine in one day, so we stop at a motel – usually in Massachusetts.

We reached our motel in Sturbridge, Mass, shortly after 3 pm, registered, unpacked, then traveled a few miles to meet our friends Bunny and Peg O’Hare for supper. They served with Transport for Christ for many years – first at the chapel in Shrewsbury, Mass, then in chaplain care and truck terminal ministry in Pennsylvania. They recently moved back to Massachusetts to be near family, after retiring from ministry to truckers. We had so much to talk about, including their desire to be involved in parttime ministry to truckers and couples.
