It was Diane’s last week with us (of three weeks). She was here for the birth of their granddaughter Natalie, Austin and Jana’s wedding, Hershey Family Spring Picnic and Cerwin’s 80th birthday party, plus a lot of other things we decided to do while she was here from Maine. We started June by taking her […]

Rose-Breasted Grosbeak

2 Comments
| Uncategorized

I haven’t been seeing many Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks this year, so I’m treasuring the times I do. I even captured an Eastern Blue Bird in the upper left. From the Internet: The genus name of the Rose-breasted grosbeak Pheucticus comes from Ancient Greek pheuktiko, “shy”, and from pheugo, “to flee”; the specific name ludovicianus comes from […]

On one of the days that Anthony and Jasmine were here the other week, he came inside and said, “Grandma you need to do something about the ferns in the Memory Garden. I can’t even sit on any of the chairs.” 🙂 I had to admit they had taken over part of the memory garden. […]

~~~ Sunday, May 30 ~~~ We have been having unusual weekend weather recently. It is either very cold or very hot. We were in Kevin and Amy’s large equipment barn instead of in the yard like they envisioned when it was planned. 🙂 It was even too cold and rainy to open small doors. Amy […]
Night Time Animals
I have been frustrated with the skunks and raccoons that are eating birdseed – especially suet during the night. I kept finding suet holders on the ground in the morning. One morning the suet holder was even missing. It was the day we left for Heze and Kayla’s wedding in Tennessee. When we got back, […]
I Am Not Seeing Hummingbirds This Spring
I think I have seen only three hummingbirds so far this year. I am using the same syrup and was using the same feeder for the first two weeks. The other week my old feeder started leaking – emptying the feeder in five minutes. I hadn’t seen a hummingbird for a few weeks, and not […]
My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (two are in Heaven), and twenty-two great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
