Rest in the Lord and be willing to wait for Him. Psalm 37:7 (NLV)
We love you! Grandpa and Grandma High
Interesting facts on why we sometimes see a purple sky. A professor of meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, explained that the sky turns purple because of extremely low atmospheric pressure. Particles, or aerosols, scatter sunlight as it passes through the air, which in combination with the absorption of light by the ozone layer, gives sunrises […]
The White-breasted Nuthatch is a perennially favorite among backyard birds because of its active personality. Nuthatches are the only species that can walk up and down a tree. They don’t use their tail for support but rely on the strength of their legs. The name nuthatch is derived from the term nut hacker because the […]
Point of view. Giving a distinctive impression of distance. The angle or direction in which a person looks at an object. The ability to understand what is important and what isn’t.
We love you! Daddy and Mother High
The time that marks the beginning of twilight before sunrise. The appearance of indirect sunlight being scattered in Earth’s atmosphere when the center of the sun’s disc has reached 18 degrees below the observer’s horizon. When the sun’s upper limb breaks the horizon, when direct sunlight outshines the diffused light.
To see or observe a thing or person Watch, view, survey, gaze, witness, inspect, discern One of my daily challenges is to never miss the beauty around me and to truly “behold” life.
A good word for today. Patience is the ability to wait for a long time without becoming annoyed or upset. It is the ability to remain calm and not become annoyed when dealing with problems or with difficult people. As I look at this evening sky from a few days ago, I am reminded that […]
He will make some delicious venison for someone’s freezer. Jeff is giving it to friends. Jeff and Chris’ cattle were curious about all the goings on. I didn’t have a closeup view of the bull for a few months and was reminded again of his huge body. I would not want to get in a […]
This is as political as you will ever see me get on any post. 🙂 We are blessed to have the privilege to vote in the USA – then let God do His work. We had about an hour wait. It was rewarding to see so many from our small community taking the privilege to […]
Saturday, October 24 I told Cerwin that I was going to do a final patio and porch cleanup for the summer before it gets cold. This is what the porch looked like within five minutes of hosing down the porch, patio, and front of the house. At least it was clean. 🙂 The front of […]
Friday, October 23 It feels like we are coming to the end of pretty leaves in our woodlot for this season. Leaves are quickly falling and covering our yard. The shellbark trees are quickly changing from bright yellow to an orange/brown. It has been a beautiful fall season.
Thursday, October 22 The final day of butternut squash harvest. It was amazing to watch them continue to fill trailers. By my calculations they harvested a total of eight or nine trailers. They finished the harvest by 2:30 in the afternoon. By early evening Jacob had already begun planting a winter grass – probably rye. […]
Thursday, October 22 The property in our woodlot (southeast side) is being sold and part of the deal was taking down some of the dead trees. The guys on the ground fed the smaller branches (and some fairly large ones) in to the woodchipper. There was a large crane that picked up the branches and […]
Wednesday, October 21 Almost more beauty than my eyes can take in. Moving my camera toward the southwest. The waxing crescent moon was bright and high in the evening sky. Before long the sun had set and the sky was dark except for the pretty moon.
Wednesday, October 21 The harvest equipment began about noon. I didn’t take many pictures on the second day of squash harvest, but enough to show you that it was happening again. The outer border shows you how much of the seven-acre field was harvested to get 3 large trailers full the day before. I didn’t […]
