Our Poinsettias Are Still Looking Good
I don’t always do a good job of keeping poinsettias looking nice for very long. I bought these in early December to decorate the tables for December 4. Now it’s December 24 and they still look as good as new. These are not pure red but feathered with white/pink in the center of the leaf.

Icy Day Cardinals
~~~ Thursday, December 15 ~~~ So many cardinals visited our birdfeeders and suet on the icy day (previous post) that I decided to give them their own post. I am sure some were repeats, but we do seem to have a lot of cardinals this winter. This one even has icy raindrops on its feathers. […]
An Icy Day
~~~ Thursday, December 15 ~~~ Ice is not nice on the road, but it sure looks pretty when you are inside looking out. It just looked a bit wet when looking at the entire landscape, but the road was icy just after daybreak. By 9 am the dogwood tree on our patio was ice-covered. I […]

They packed 29 grocery boxes. These go to church members, friends and neighbors – maybe because of hospital experiences, illness or other things […]
Christmas Soup
~~~ Tuesday, December 6 ~~~ This is what I did with a pound of hamburger and leftovers from our family’s Christmas Lunch – baked potato and salad bar – two days earlier. Vegetable soup made with onions, sweet peppers, carrots, celery, chives tomatoes and anything else that helped to create a delicious soup. It made […]
I Heard the Bells
~~~ Monday Afternoon, December 5 ~~~ Diane took us to Penn Cinema to see I Heard the Bells which was produced by Sight & Sound Films. It was based on the song I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I will never listen to that song in the same way […]
Our Family Christmas Celebration

Emmy (left – born May 16) and Stetson (right – born April 29) were here for our summer gathering in early […]
