This mockingbird came by for a short visit the other day. At first I thought it was something other than a mockingbird because of its brown tones, but I read that they can have a variety of color tones. Also, the afternoon sun may have made it look lighter than its usual gray. Either way, […]
~~~ Saturday, June 24 ~~~ We are not huge baseball fans but decided to go to the 50th Anniversary of the Manheim Church League to watch a game or two and buy some food to help with their fundraiser for Teen Central and the Home on Ferdinand. This league started 70 years ago as fast-pitch, […]
~~~ Sunday Morning, June 25 6 am ~~~ It was the kind of morning that drew me outside. The sky above me was bright blue with just a few clouds. We don’t see the sunrise in summer, because it comes up behind our woodlot. As I moved toward the southeast, there was a light haze […]
~~~ Wednesday, June 21 With my sister Nancy and sisters-in-law Dot and Brenda ~~~ This was a 70th birthday gift to Nancy from Dot, Brenda and me. Dot is the one who had been here before and suggested this location – which the rest of us had never heard about. We love new places, so […]
~~~ Wednesday Morning June 21 ~~~ I was going to Dale and Dot’s place during the late morning to meet Dot for a lunch date with my sister Nancy and sister-in-law Brenda and texted Dot to ask if I could come early to photograph some of their flowers. She replied, “Sure.” She had invited me […]

~~~ June 18 ~~~ This meal was a gift to Cerwin from Roy and Deb. I think it was Deb and Roy who got soup for an appetizer: potato and lobster bisque. The chicken meal belonged to Barb. Roy and Cerwin each chose a steak with meaty baked beans. Roy had a loaded baked potato […]
I can’t explain why a Calla Lily looks and feels like peace to me. Maybe it’s the beautiful contrast between white and green. Things I learned from the Internet: Calla lilies are native to South Africa and are considered tender perennials because they don’t tolerate freezing weather. Calla lilies are terrific cut flowers. They last […]
~~~ Saturday Evening, June 17 ~~~ It was a beautiful evening for a birthday party at Donovan and Diana’s place. It appeared that it suited most of Diana and Donovan’s immediate family members, plus a few friends. Emmy, whose birthday we celebrated a few weeks ago, isn’t walking yet, but is getting very close – […]
~~~ Saturday Afternoon, June 17 ~~~ We gathered at Jakey and Crystal’s (daughter) house about 12:30 pm to surprise Elvin and Patti when they arrived – about 1 pm. We arrived early, so I had time to check out the refurbished corn bin Jakey installed near their pool. After finding it and checking with the […]
We are great grandparents for the fourteenth time. Seven girls and seven boys. The following announcement and pictures are from our granddaughter, Jenna: Praise God from whom all blessings flow. We welcomed a precious girl, Harper Mabry on June 22nd! 8 lb. 12 oz. 21 1/4” long. Jade is so proud to have a sister […]
Hosta works nicely in our yard because there is so much shade on the north side of the house and in the woodsy area behind us. During the early summer the flowers are quite pretty.
~~~ Friday, June 16 ~~~ It was one of those times when we attended memorial/funeral/visitation services once a week for a month. Mildred Kunkel passed away on May 10. She was the wife of one of Cerwin’s childhood friends. Ruth Martin died suddenly on May 23. She was a former staff friend through TFC. Lois […]
~~~ Monday, June 12 4:16 pm ~~~ Notice the date. This is about a week and a half ago. At this time in June the ground in our area was very dry, so this sky and the weather forecast gave us hope for rain. Then it came. Oh, the beautiful sound of rain. It came […]
~~~ Sunday Evening, June 11 4:00 pm ~~~ Electrical Construction was the theme of the cake. It appears that he was facing the sun. I love how Jere and Kristen decorate their yard and patio. The celebration meal included Jared’s parents, siblings, us, Aunt Deb, Yeira’s parents, brother and grandparents. Jere and Kristen’s 2023 graduates. […]
