We love you! From Great Grandpa and Great Grandma High
~~~ Can you name them before reading their description? ~~~ Dark-eyed Junco House Sparrow Northern Mockingbird European Starling House Finch Red-headed Woodpecker Female Cardinal American Goldfinch Mourning Dove Red-Bellied Woodpecker
~~~ Saturday, January 8 ~~~ Looks like a neighborhood cat walked toward our house – or was it away from the house – during the night. The decorative grass plumes looked pretty with the morning sun behind them. This sparrow looked warm with the sun on its face. The bird feeders were full as the […]
~~~ Friday, January 7 ~~~ Our kitchen window view just about sunrise. Just after sunrise from our guestroom window. I liked the variety of browns and yellows the morning sun created as I looked toward the woods behind us. The birdbath gives you an idea of the 5-6 inches of snow we got during the […]
~~~ Thursday Evening, January 6 ~~~ When we invited Marv and Fay to go out for a meal, they chose The Brickerville House, which was nice for us because it’s not far from our house. Marv and Fay are TFC friends from the ’80s when they began helping us with the Truck Rally. As the […]
~~~ A photo memory of the pretty sunset on Tuesday, January 4 is nice on this cloudy, cold, rainy, icy Sunday ~~~ Can you find the moon? I didn’t even notice it when I took these pictures. However, when I relooked at the sky after getting back to the house, I was surprised to see […]
~~~ Wednesday, January 5 ~~~ Our friend Sam likes to choose this restaurant for our quarterly, 1 pm lunch with TFC friends. It is near Bernville, PA, not far from a few members of his family. This time his youngest daughter, Dorcas, joined the group. Left to Right: Dorcas, Sam, Cerwin, Bunny, Peg and Inge. […]
~~~ Saturday, January 1 ~~~ When I went outside to take some raindrop photos, I was fascinated with this set of leaves caught in the dogwood tree. They are definitely not dogwood leaves – maybe from a Hickory tree. It is interesting to see shadows in raindrops. So pretty!
Since there is no red on the head of these, I expect both are females. Aren’t they pretty with their black and white feathers.
~~~ Saturday, January 1, 2022 ~~~ This was not the first time I made a pork roast on January 1, but it was the first time I made a roast from the meat of a wild hog – the one Cerwin shot in Tennessee at the end of last summer. It was nice to have […]
~~~ Our Last Christmas Get-Together for 2021 – Thursday Evening, December 30 ~~~ We were at Teen Central in Manheim, which was perfect for our evening. I should have taken a few pictures of the children in the gym. A few of our nieces planned a delicious taco salad meal. I enjoyed visiting that I […]
~~~ Wednesday, December 22 ~~~ The red-headed woodpeckers don’t come to our feeders on a regular basis, so I treasure each time I see one. The male and female look alike, so I don’t know which one this is. It is one of the prettiest birds in our area.
~~~ Monday, December 27 ~~~ The sunrise was brilliant and short-lived. It reminded me of the saying, “Red sky in the morning is a sailor’s warning” because snow was predicted by late morning. Within minutes the sky was gray. A light snow arrived about 11:30 am.
~~~ Wednesday, December 29 ~~~ Our last midweek excursion for 2021. Our first stop was at Michael’s Craft Store where I dropped off a counted cross-stitch piece for framing. This piece was of an impala – a photo that was taken when we visited Africa in 2018. Next we went to Costo where I needed […]
