We Love You! Grandpa and Grandma High
Wednesday Morning, January 31 Since there was a lot of hype about this super blue moon, I went outside at 5:56 am. It was super brilliant As the eclipse began at 6:46, it was easier to photograph. When I turned my back to the moon, I saw the sunrise in the east.
Saturday Evening, January 27 We arrived early – to get tickets at the door. We hadn’t gotten tickets ahead of time because of a possible conflict in appointments. When I called two days before the expo they said there would be tickets at the door until they were gone. The first thing we did was […]
Saturday Morning, January 27 Lydia and Grandpa were on a mission to replace a head lamp bulb on her car. It took two trips to Advance Auto Parts to get the job done – after a small part broke.
Friday Evening, January 26 There was a beautiful, waxing moon high in the sky – ready to light the night sky. At the same minute the sun was setting in the west… …creating a beautiful orange sky. I love sunsets when the sky is orange.
Tuesday, January 23 – at the TFC Office Chaplain Richard and Diana Olver – who trained on the Harrisburg Chapel are preparing to move to Denver, Colorado, where Richard will serve as lead chaplain. I forgot my camera, so these are cell phone pictures. Their thank you and farewell gift to the International Office was […]
Sunday Afternoon and Evening, January 21 We hosted the Truck Rally committee meeting in our garage. Randy and Karen Sauder are Rally coordinators and chaired the meeting. Each couple represented their area of responsibility for the Rally and shared new ideas, suggested changes, or told us that everything was going well. ~~~ After supper we […]
Saturday Evening, January 20 Guest tables were also decorated with children’s books. There was lots of visiting going on among the guests. Jared’s Grandpa Harnly and Cerwin share a love of gospel and bluegrass music and enjoyed catching up. Friends from out of state talking to my sister, Nancy. Notice her sling. She broke her […]
Saturday Evening, January 20 The fellowship hall of Erb Mennonite Church. There was lots of delicious food. Children’s books were the theme of the evening. They decorated the food table. More pictures tomorrow evening.
Friday Evening, January 19 I loved this view as we drove home from the memorial service of my cousin’s husband last week. The entire western sky was orange.
Thursday, January 18 As I watched the female Red-bellied Woodpecker on this cold, wintry morning, I thought, “This would be a good day to make a pot of tomato soup.” I had some tomatoes left over from the High family lunch and boiled them so I could easily remove the skin. Then I went to […]
Thursday, January 18 We usually invite two people to come to our office to help us label and prepare the individual Highway News for mailing. But, since Cerwin is not building a chapel this winter, he has extra time – and we don’t have to ask friends to go out in the cold, wintry weather. […]
Wednesday, January 17 These pictures follow last nights shots of the nighttime snow. This is what it looked like in the morning. The township snowplows went by several times during the day. I love a snowy day – when I can stay at home.
Tuesday night, January 16 I opened the door before going to bed and was surprised by the large snowflakes. It is breathtaking to be outside at nighttime when it is snowing large flakes.
Sunday, January 14 The tables are set and ready for our guests – Cerwin’s siblings and their families were coming to see Bob and Doris (Cerwin’s sister) who were visiting from Minnesota. Cerwin and I provided soup (cheeseburger and chili con carne) and sandwiches. The others brought the rest of the items. Somebody brought these […]
Saturday, January 13 The birds continued to eliminate the seeds on the suet ring until one windy, rainy night, we woke up to nothing but rope. The remaining seeds were on the ground. The birds had to look elsewhere for their seeds. This blue jay looked almost golden during the morning sunrise. Soaking in the […]
