Red-bellied Woodpecker and Something to Ponder
These birds are fairly regular at our feeders and prefer the log feeder. I can tell it is a male, because the red on his head goes the whole way to his beak. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Winter Is a Great Time to Celebrate Valentine’s Day
After several days of snow this past week, I have concluded that Valentine’s Day is placed in just the right spot on our calendar. Shrimp Corn Chowder (above) for me and Potato Soup for Cerwin was a perfect way to celebrate a cold, wintry Valentine’s Day at The Udder Choice. We also shared a delicious […]
Snow at Our House and Something to Ponder

Help With Shoveling and Something to Ponder
This was not yesterday’s snow, but about a month ago when Jere and Jared came to help Cerwin open the driveway. ~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Today’s Snow
We didn’t know what to expect with the predicted snowfall because we were kind of at a dividing line between light snow and heavy snow. I took the first two pictures about 5:42 am, when the snow was beginning to warn us that we were going to get more than a dusting. By 7:45 AM […]
A Summary of My 80th Birthday
Thursday, February 1 to Sunday, February 11 February 1: Just before suppertime, my sister-in-law Brenda stopped in with a birthday treat – cheeseburger soup, lemon poppyseed muffins and the cutest card which was painted by her granddaughter Molly. The canned soups were from our daughter, Diane, when she was here from Maine – the week […]
Robins at Our Feeders
Robins remind us of spring, but I think we have had a few all winter. I think there must be bugs in this feeder because it is rare to see a robin at a feeder. This is where I put all old bird seed and suet when I refresh the feeders each week.
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
It has been fun to see a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at our feeders recently. Each of these is a female, because the male has a red throat. I especially enjoyed watching it share a feeder with a pair of bluebirds. This is a big feeder on a bench close to the ground where I dump old […]
Sauder Cousins Lunch at Knight & Day Diner
~~~ Wednesday, January 31 Lititz, PA ~~~ We had a really good turnout of Sauder Cousins this time. We get together every three months. There were 21 People – cousins, spouses and friends. Each of the cousin’s parents were siblings. This is the number of people who represented each sibling: Aaron 5, Alice 3, Amos […]
Pictures Through the Eight Decades of My Life
This is the youngest picture of me that I could find. It’s not great because I took it from a family photo. But I treasure it, and love how my dad is holding me. This was when I was about the age of 10. This was a bit younger than 20, but it will represent […]
High Family Get-Together
~~~ Sunday Evening, January 28 ~~~ This was our after-Christmas-gathering. It was supposed to be in early January, but snow and Covid canceled that one. This time we had a good group – about 55 people. This family group consisted of Cerwin’s siblings, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We missed Bob and Doris’ family, […]
