~~~ Saturday, August 3 ~~~I I am going to back up a bit to a previous rain and windstorm that happened earlier in the week. Our son Jeff came to our place about 9:45 am yesterday (Saturday) to remove a few large branches that fell from that storm. I took this picture about 3:44 pm […]
~~~ Monday, July 29 ~~~ You may remember that I posted these two pictures next to the old garage (build in 1912) at my family’s homestead about a week ago. During a break from processing corn (yesterday’s post), I took time to take a few more pictures on the homestead. From this perspective, the garage […]

Monday, July 29 This is a project that looked overwhelming when we started. Cerwin and I arrived at Larry and Karen’s place (our family homestead) about 8 am. Several others had already arrived – Amy (Karen’s sister), Larry, Marlin and Nancy (Karen’s parents & my sister), Fern (Larry’s mom) partially hidden. Husking was the first […]

Watching Field Corn Grow

The scenery outside our window changes almost daily as the corn grows. You may remember this picture from June 4 when the corn in the fields next to our house was planted. One month later – July 5. I started this series of pictures to see how long it would take the corn to grow […]

I see this scene each time we are traveling home from the south. One day it caught my attention and I determined to stop some day and get a few pictures. I did that yesterday. Old records of the farm tell us this garage was built in 1912 when my Great Grandpa Jacob Hershey bought […]

I remember buying this at a truck show auction at The Buck many years ago. At that time, it was planted in a pot small enough for me to carry. I don’t think I will be carrying it anywhere this year. 🙂 It always blooms in late July and early August, adding a burst of […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (two are in Heaven), and twenty-two great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
