Pole Barn Auction and Arts & Crafts ~ Brethren Disaster Relief Auction

| BDRA

Tonight’s entry includes two more features from last week’s disaster relief auction.  The pole barn auction was held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. This auction includes some unique items – and is usually a great place to get a good deal. These made me smile.  The book “How to Get Running Water in Your Home – On Your Farm” […]

Gift baskets are popular items at this event.    I am always amazed at everyone’s creativity in designing these basket arrangements.   If you are not familiar with gift basket auctions, the baskets usually contain items that go together. Many people check out the contents and attend the auction.

Children’s Activities – Brethren Disaster Relief Auction

There are a nice variety of activities for the children at this two-day event.    I always enjoy watching children’s auctions because the children do not try to hide the fact that they are bidding. They just hold their number in the air until they are finished bidding. It takes a good auctioneer to conduct […]

I went to Lebanon Fairgrounds early yesterday to capture some pictures of the heifer auction which started at 11:00 a.m. As I approached the last pole barn, it was obvious that the heifer auction had begun. Some people were still getting auction numbers. Heifers were being prepared for auction.    I watched as several heifers (many pregnant […]

Jere’s Birthday Supper

Monday, September 23 – the evening before Jere’s forty-fourth birthday. We went to The Loft (Jere’s choice) in downtown Lancaster where our children took us for our anniversary dinner last week. This time our table was positioned along a wall where I had a good view of the attractive raftered ceiling where there is beautiful, healthy-looking greenery.    I […]

There were multiple reasons why we and Jere and Kristen’s family met Roy and Deb at RD’s for lunch after church on Sunday. 1. It is a new restaurant in Roy and Deb’s area. 2. I had some things that needed to be returned to Deb (they live about an hour away from us). 3. Deb twisted her knee […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (two are in Heaven), and twenty-two great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
