Getting Ready For Snow

| Nature

Almost everything about Monday, January 20, told us that snow was coming. The only thing that was a bit deceptive was the sunrise, but the snow was still hours away. By early afternoon sunshine was a rarity. Birds were busy most of the day. Squirrels took advantage of snow-free grass to search for shellbarks and acorns. We […]

Cold Feet

It is amazing what I will do for a photograph! Last Saturday morning, January 18, when I noticed a pretty sunrise, I decided to brave the light snow and cold weather while still barefooted and in my house coat. (We live in the country so I can do this!) Sunrise photos are often much prettier when taken […]

Sunday Evening, January 19 ~ Neffsville Mennonite Church Neffsville, Pennsylvania Mel and Velda posing for pictures. The cake – with lemon filling – was delicious. A family member made a small angel food cake for this photo-op because their wedding cake was angel food. I posted a bunch of them – just because they were so […]

I began working on bulk mailings in 1977. The Northeast Region was new then, and Director Melvin Mast and his wife, Joyce, were preparing to mail newsletters by using a bulk permit. Birds & Snow

Friday, January 10 We woke up to a beautiful, gray, snowy day last Friday. The blue jays and cardinals looked pretty with their blues and reds against the winter white. A wren joined them at the feeder. I caught this male downy woodpecker in flight – on its way to the suet. A red-bellied woodpecker […]

A Lot Of Orange In The Sky

The sky was brilliantly orange on Thursday morning, January 9. The sun looked like a big yellow torch as it came over the eastern horizon. This dark-eyed junco kept an eye on me at I watched it eat breakfast. The evening sky was also a brilliant orange. I think God must have an invisible paintbrush.

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
