Friday morning, September 23 I assume this cute little guy named Goliath is not a heifer. However, somebody may have named a girl Goliath. These pretty girls were donated by farmers – to be purchased by other farmers – to benefit disaster relief. \ I read in a Lebanon newspaper that the heifer auction raised $100,000.00.
Tuesday Evening, September 27 This week is Chaplain Training School for TFC. Tuesday evening was the International Staff dinner with the trainees. Four people in training. The two on the left are also here for training. Cerwin’s and my contribution to the meal was Cheeseburger Soup from Hilltop Acres. I also took a dish of […]
Sunday Evening, September 25 We were pleased to learn (via Facebook) that the Klassen’s were in our area on Sunday evening. The pictures aren’t great because the lights were behind them, and I didn’t want to use a flash. He is an amazing harpist and entertaining story teller, and uses those talents to challenge Christians to live faithful, […]
I just got a Fitbit Charge 2 However, I didn’t feel very techie as I watched Jere setting it up for me. I would probably still be trying to set it up and connect it to my laptop and cell phone at this time next week if I had to do that part. 🙂 It […]
Saturday Evening, September 24 at a Landis Homes social room We had a very small group of 22 for the Sauder reunion this year, but that didn’t hinder us from having a lot of fun. Somehow the third and fourth generations of a family don’t find family reunions to be fun. Cousins are the ones […]
Friday Evening, September 23 I understand that Jere’s children planned this party for him, and Kristen fulfilled their wishes and invited us to join the fun. Supper at Pizza Hut… …and a movie at Penn Cinema I couldn’t get these guys to stop talking as I took a quick picture – so this is what […]
We love you! Daddy & Mother
A fresh-from-the-garden-tomato is as good as it gets for tomato lovers.
Wednesday, September 21 There are lots of fabulous things to see when we travel, but it is always good to see a sunset at home. This sunset seemed to change by the minute. It is good to see a home sunset.
Tuesday, September 20 Since I didn’t have time to post the scenes of yesterday, I will show them to you first – then some of the travel highlights from today. Yesterday – a beautiful morning in Alabama Somewhere between the Tennessee border and Chattanooga (above), the time changed from Central to Eastern Standard – without notice or fanfare. Weigh […]
Since it is my bedtime, I will make this a short post so those who are following us know we had a safe trip today – Tuesday, September 20. 🙂 I will post the rest of the pictures tomorrow. We spent the evening with Chaplain David Nispel – first enjoying supper in the travel plaza restaurant. […]
Monday, September 19 When I typed the date this evening, I remembered that this was my Grandma Hershey’s birthday. I checked. She would have been 119 today. We were on the road this morning by 6 am. It was about 7 am before I could take good pictures. It was a beautiful, hazy, hot morning […]
Sunday, September 18 8:00 am. The first Sunday worship service in the New Caney chapel. Chaplain Don DeSimone welcomed us to the “Chapel at 242” and mentioned that he felt unified in the Spirit with the TFC staff who came to help them dedicate this chapel to the Lord. I am sure that we will be forever friends […]
Saturday, September 17, 2016 The chapel in its morning beauty when we arrived about 9:30 am. We are at the same motel (LaQuinta) as Doug and Ellen Kraus, so they are driving us to and from our activities. That way we can let the truck at the truck stop. They drove here from Florida. We […]
Friday, September 16, 2016 Cerwin and Dwayne went to the chapel early and helped the local men set up the chapel. By the time Doug, Ellen, and I got there this is what it looked like. A pastor friend of the New Caney ministry team, David Lino (dark blue shirt) stopped in to see the chapel. I […]
Thursday, September 15 This is what the inside of the chapel looked like when we arrived on Thursday morning. Dwayne and Cerwin hooked up the lights and fixtures. Chaplain Don talking to his wife and telling her what Doris was doing, so I took a picture of him. 🙂 Cerwin installing LED tube lights. That […]
