Removing Crane Mats from the Field Next to Our House

Remember when I told you about the skids (I learned they are called crane mats) being stacked in the field next to our house, after being used for a “road” in the fields for the installation of new electric poles and lines during the late winter.

May 17 was the day that several big rigs came to pick them up.

Since we spent most of our marriage being involved in trucking in some way or another, we enjoyed watching the truck traffic by our house.

The pickup process probably involved four different rigs, and a few came back a second time.

A large skid loader took them from the stack and placed them on a flatbed.

Cerwin enjoyed getting a closeup view of this one as he mowed yard.

At one point there were three rigs in line waiting for their turn for pickup.

Most fun for me was taking chocolate chip cookies to the man who was directing traffic near our mailbox. It’s not like our road has much traffic, but it was still necessary to have a person on either end of the pickup scene.
