Brunch at Lampeter Café

Tuesday, July 2

From the internet: Circa 1760, this colonial property on Lampeter Square has been home to a livery, tavern, wainwright, blacksmith, and automobile repair shop. Various owners and businesses offered hospitality to the community and travelers on the old Conestoga Road (Route 741).

Chris, Deb, Diane and I were doing a brunch so the sisters (Deb and Diane) could see each other before Roy and Deb leave for a Florida vacation. It did not suit Kristen because of just returning from Prague and having a busy schedule at work.

Chris knew more about the place than the rest of us and suggested we eat in the “summer kitchen” – a small room with only one table. It can be reserved for a price, but if it is open, anyone can sit there.

I ordered quiche and fruit

Deb’s salad, sweet potato and some kind of cold coffee drink.

Shortly after Chris arrived, she said that Jenna and Jade were joining us too. Oh, what fun! Jenna had called Chris to see if she was able to go out for lunch. Chris suggested that she join us. 🙂

Jenna checking on suggestions from the menu while Jade enjoyed grandma’s lap.

Jade and Jenna

Grandma fed her some sweet potato from Deb’s plate.

Then, without warning, Jade put her foot on the table. 🙂

I don’t think that is good table etiquette, Jade. 🙂

In between enjoying Jade’s antics, we shared desserts.

A kiss for mama.

Another one for grandma

Great aunt Deb showing her some fun things on her cell phone.

Grandma had a bit of fun with a slice of lemon.

Should I trust her again?

Nope, I should not have trusted her.

Waving goodbye to us

Lampeter Café is a delightful place to have brunch.

There is lots of outdoor seating, but the day was hot, so it was more comfortable inside. Chris is showing Deb “The Livery” where rooms can be rented for a group of seventy people.

I am sure we will revisit this place.
