A Time for Everything

The events of Thursday and Friday made me think about Ecclesiastes 3:4.

There is a time to cry and a time to laugh.
There is a time to be sad and a time to dance.

Thursday was the time to laugh and have fun swimming with our family.

Friday was the time to be sad and say goodbye to Cerwin’s cousin Edith Sweigart. She was a few months older than Cerwin. It was a gravesite service, so Cerwin and I took lawn chairs. This was the view in front of us. I used my cellphone for these pictures.

Edith was one of fourteen children and a daughter of Aaron and Edna Sauder. Aaron was a brother to Cerwin’s mom. Edith is the third of her siblings to die. We enjoyed seeing and visiting with some of her remaining siblings. Edith and Roy had a son who died as a young man. You can see his gravestone on the right.

I took this picture while walking to our car. I walk a bit better than Cerwin, especially on the uneven ground in this cemetery, so he was glad when I offered to get the car and drive up close to the gravesite when we left for the funeral meal.

The funeral service was in the cemetery of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, Lititz, PA, and the meal was at Ephrata United Zion Church where Edith attended. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and loved visiting with several cousins.

We did some smiling and laughing during the meal when one of her friends, a niece, and nephew shared some interesting and funny memories.
