Sunday Lunch

Sunday June 28

Each time we have company for a meal, I try to personalize it to the people and time of year. This time there were six guests and the weather was nice, so we set up in the garage, with the door open – a kind of picnic.

Not everyone likes to be on social media, so I didn’t take pictures when they were here. This time there were two couples from church who are fairly new to our congregation at White Oak. Darvin and Donna and their boys Paxton and Preston and Vernon and Jeana. Our missionary friend Wanda, who is retiring after 40 years in Haiti, was also supposed to be here, but we got our “wires crossed” and she missed the lunch. She was disappointed because she is hoping to get acquainted with those who weren’t part of our congregation when she left for the mission field.

I served mini ham and cheese sandwiches, baked in a cake pan with a topping of brown sugar, mustard, and Worchester sauce. Also, scalloped potatoes, broccoli salad, red beet eggs, pickles and olives. For dessert I had angel good cake with a strawberry tapioca topping and ice cream.

Everyone said they enjoyed the meal, and we had a great afternoon of visiting and getting better acquainted.
