Winter Series  – God’s Direction for this Age of Confusion

Why an Old and a New Testament – by Carl Groff

There are about ten times the number of years involved in the Old Testament compared to the New Testament

Both Testaments clearly reveal a holy God

What a privilege we have to live as New Testament saints.

The Old Testament gives us many examples of why it is important to follow and obey God. The New Testament confirms it.

We learn in the Old Testament that God hates murmuring and complaining and the New Testament confirms it. God wants our praise – even during the trial and testing side of life.

Only God’s people can do that. Anyone can sing praises on the victory side of life.

God brought manna to complainers – that’s mercy!

We learn the principle of sowing and reaping from the Old Testament and the New Testament confirms it. You will not get away with sin.

Sowing affects your harvest. Sow to the Spirit – reap the harvest of the Spirit

We need both Testaments. We learn godly characteristics from the Old Testament.

The New Testament fulfils the promises of the Old Testament and brought us the promised Savior.

The ordination of one of our young preachers – Jon Cassel

Sermon by Marv Shenk

Your success as a minister of the Gospel will not depend on what people think of you, but what you think of your people.

Ten Commandments of Service to God

Commune with God daily

Do not neglect your spouse and children

Do not endeavor to minister in your own strength

Serve the Lord with joy and gladness.

Do not grow weary in well doing.

Know the state of your flock.

Do not be ashamed of your call to preach or serve.

Make yourself available.

Speak the truth in love.

Do not blemish the Word of God with character failures.

Some of Marv’s notes in between the ten commandments of service to God.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Remember you serve the Master of the world.

Get enough sleep and rest. Weariness can make a man or woman a coward.

Be a good shepherd. Notice sadness. Listen to burdens.

Know and understand that Satan will pursue you.

When you are a leader, people will not always like you. If you want to be liked, serve ice cream!
