Antique Truck Club of America, Macungie, PA – Part 5

Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16

This is the final post concerning Macungie – and will feature the chapel ministry.

A view from the chapel door.

Because it was a fabulous weekend weather wise, we spent a lot of our time outside under the canopy or in the shade – enjoying our visitors. Many were familiar with TFC and came to rest after walking around the grounds.

Chaplain Jake’s wife, Jane, used the time to work on a sketch of a truck.

She is a very skilled artist.

Cerwin listens intently to someone who stopped by to see the chapel.

We are given a prime spot on the grounds.

We are part of the “power” row – the military and the chapel. We tease the military guys that God outranks them. 🙂 Meaning the chapel is the most powerful in the power row.

This is the only picture I took inside the chapel We had lots of visitors – most who had never heard about Transport For Christ. Each one was fascinated that there is a ministry to truck drivers in truck stops.

Each of us – Chaplain Jake, Volunteer Chaplain Bob, and Cerwin and I – spent time with people who had spiritual questions and concerns.

We are  honored to be part of this huge truck show and feel that the people have become comfortable, encouraged, and sometimes convicted by our presence.

We began packing up shortly after 3:00 PM on Saturday and I was able to do one of my least favorite jobs in the ministry – following the chapel on an interstate. I really do not enjoy entering interstates and pray my way through entrance ramps. I was thankful that I successfully navigated the two entrance ramps to Route 222 Business during this trip home.

I exit Route 222 at Ephrata while Cerwin continues to Lancaster, then Columbia before going to the chapel’s home base near Marietta – where our second personal vehicle was waiting for him.

When I am finally on familiar roads – especially Mountain Road (after exiting Route 322), I breathe, “Oh Mountain Road I love you.”

Thank you, Lord, for a fulfilling weekend.
