Sight and Sound
Saturday Evening, September 26 We had a great evening at Sight and Sound – enjoying the production of Queen Esther. Due to COVID they are limited in how many can be in the auditorium. I am used to seeing it full, so the audience looked sparse to me. Photos cannot be taken during the program, […]
Notes from Sunday Worship
October 4 Sunday School Love that Intercedes Teacher – Kevin Longenecker Intercede – a go-between, a peacemaker How did Jonathan and David get to this point of friendship – of loving each other so much that Jonathan would be a go-between for David and Jonathan’s father, Saul? Jonathan noticed David’s wisdom. Intercession needs: wisdom, prayer, […]

2020 Birthday Meal with Dustan & Jenna and Nate & Lauree
Friday Evening, September 25 Cerwin and I had a fun evening with Dustan, Jenna, Nate and Lauree to celebrate the ladies 2020 birthdays. They chose Tied House in Lititz. Our delicious entrees were things like Chili, Fried Chicken & Biscuits, Prime Ribeye and Specialty Salad with Chicken. We made sure Cerwin sat across from Nate […]
Nut Picker Upper
Friday, September 25 It was time for Cerwin to use his new nut picker upper. He got it at the end of the season last year when my friend Dolly saw a picture of him raking nuts and said he should get a nut picker upper. We had never heard about them. He really likes […]
Happy Birthday to Our Favorite Mark

Field Work
Friday, September 25 The field next to us was getting some kind of spray in preparation for a winter crop. Later in the day I heard a truck nearby and noticed the field was also getting manure. This is now a well fertilized field. 🙂
Fog
Friday Morning, September 25 Morning fog is pretty when you can stay home and don’t have to drive in it. The early morning light gave it a purple hue. I heard a few crows warning each other that there was an “enemy” in the yard. I looked up and noticed they were back in the […]
Stonehouse Cafe
Thursday, September 24 Our day changed with a phone call when Cerwin’s hearing aid appointment at Costco, was postponed because his technician had a family emergency. (He goes for an update/test every few months.) We were in the mood to go somewhere, so Cerwin suggested Stonehouse Café in Clay for an early supper. We weren’t […]
God’s Mercies are New Every Morning
Tuesday, September 22 “But I have hope when I think of this: The Lord’s love never ends. His mercies never stop. They are new every morning. Lord, your loyalty is great.” Lamentations 3:21-23 International Children’s Bible
Beauty on a Monday Afternoon and Evening
Monday, September 21 I enjoyed the quiet, ordinary beauty of watching this house finch (we have lots of them) eating from our graniteware dipper in the light of the early evening sun. I brought the colander and dipper feeder close to the kitchen window after the hummingbirds headed south a few weeks ago – and […]
Notes from Sunday Worship
Sunday, September 27 Sunday School Revealed Love – Genesis 45:1-8, 10-15 Teacher – Bob Copenhaver God had prepared Joseph for just a time as this. Do we see the needs around us? Do we hear the calls of people with needs? Oh, God make us an instrument of your peace. Everyone wants to be part […]
Church Picnic
Sunday Evening, September 20 This year our church picnic was held outside in the parking lot at church due to COVID 19 – instead of our usual location in a local Christian School gym. It was a beautiful, sunny evening. The meal was organized and served by a Sunday school class. They had more work […]
Mowing Late Summer Hay
Saturday Morning, September 19 It was a beautiful, late Saturday morning for mowing hay in the field next to our roadside bank on the northwestern side of our property. I expect the hay will feed Jacob and Eli’s horses, mules and goats. I love the feeling in the air on late summer mornings.
Lanita Truck Show
Saturday, September 19 Photos by Cerwin on his cellphone. Following TFC Global’s prayer breakfast and after purchasing the ground cherry pie at Village Market (previous post), Cerwin went to Mt Aetna to see the trucks at Lanita Specialized Truck Show. Hans, these pictures are for you. Remember this truck? This is the one you got […]
Ground Cherry Pie
Saturday, September 26 Ground cherry pies have a bit of sentimental value to us. I learned about them from Cerwin’s mother, and Cerwin thinks she learned about them from Mable Ruth – a friend from the Souderton area. I think I have a vague memory of my mom or grandmother making one of these, but […]
Changing Logo Signs at the Office
One of Cerwin’s recent jobs (August 27) was to remove this sign from the shop at TFC Global’s International Office and replace it with the new logo. Our friend (from church) Charles Cassel loaned Cerwin the lift he uses for painting. The sign is 8 feet in diameter, so Cerwin needed the help of our […]
Closeups in Our Yard
Thursday, September 17 It was the delightful afternoon that invited me to go outside and see what was happening in our end-of-summer yard. These morning-glory-type flowers are growing on the bank along the road. I think it is a wild flower of some sort. They are small as morning glories go. Another end-of-summer flower is […]
