We Went to Jeff & Chris’ House for Mother’s Day Supper

When we arrived at their house, I noticed five pretty pots of flowers on the deck table. My first thought was that each of their five children gave Chris flowers for Mother’s Day, then because they were similar, I thought maybe they were gifts for their married daughters, daughter-in-law and the mothers. My last thought was correct. I chose the one on the right.

When I pulled out one of the kitchen island chairs to sit down, Pip quickly moved to the next chair. I love her beautiful whiskers. She was a bit moody because she had recently been declawed.

Jade is learning how to use stitching cards.

Supper consisted of delicious ham loaf burgers – grilled by Jeff.

Chris made asparagus and brie cheese wrapped in pastry. Yum! There was also salad, lima beans and…

fruit.

Later we celebrated their family’s late winter and early spring birthdays – Jenna, Donovan, Bennet and Lauree.

Bennett could not be trusted to hold his cupcake because he wanted to touch the flame, so Uncle Nate kept it at a safe distance.

After the candle was blown out, Nate fed it to him – face first.

Jade wanted to blow out a candle too…

…and again.

Drake wasn’t sure what to make of all the fuss.

Then he thought about something.

Hey, great grandma, “Don’t you think I should have been included with the birthdays?” My birth day was in late winter. 🙂

There was a cupcake for the birthday people and shoefly pie, cake, tapioca and strawberries for everyone.

Jeff was holding their two grandsons as we prepared to say goodbye. I tried to get Jade to join them, but she wasn’t feeing great and rejected my invitation. 🙂
