We had been to a Teen Central Banquet before, but this was our first time at The Junction Center – also the home of WJTL. We went at the invitation of my sister Nancy and brother-in-law Marlin whose son-in-law Jared is on the board of Teen Central.

First, we enjoyed a delicious meal by Country Home Catering.

During the program Janelle Heying (Executive Director) gave us an interesting update on the happenings at Teen Central whose missions is: To proclaim a life of purpose and hope to each generation of youth, through Jesus Christ, by providing positive activities, mentoring relationships, and promoting social, intellectual. emotional, and spiritual growth.

Included in the update was a photo of the newly renovated exterior of the building where Manheim’s youth can visit and become involved their activities – including meals which are cooked by our sister-in-law, Brenda.

The guest speaker, Pastor Jose Jimenez, shared stories from his childhood in Lancaster where his dad was incarcerated during most of his growing up days. He mentioned how the Water Street Mission and Teen Haven shaped his life during those days.

It is inspiring to listen to someone who made good choices and changed the direction of what his life could have been. He is now a pastor at Activ8 Church in the city of Lancaster, PA.

His testimony must have been an encouragement to those who serve at Teen Central.
