Traveling to New Hampshire

Thursday, October 6

~~~
We left home about 6:30 am and saw the pretty sunrise across the fields and trees to the east as we traveled Route 501 on the way to I-78.
I love to see morning fog as we travel. This was somewhere in the Allentown area.
My favorite view of the Tappan Zee Bridge as we crossed the Hudson River in New York state.
If you look carefully, you can locate the outline of New York City when crossing the river. It is even more difficult to photograph it because of the fencing.
We had some interesting detours on this trip. Detours that were difficult to follow.
One time we ended up right back where we started. I told Cerwin that I heard insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result – so we better find a different exit. šŸ™‚
Our GPS tried to keep taking us back to where we started so we drove to another area before following the GPS again.
Some of the prettiest leaves we saw that day were in Massachusetts. Most areas were not yet at their peak colors.
Because of our route, we went through a part of Vermont before entering western New Hampshire.
By the time we arrived at our motel (Best Western) in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, the weather was warm and beautiful.
After getting settled into our room, we looked for a nearby restaurant and chose one near to our motel, but it didn’t open until 6 PM, so we looked for another and chose Applebee’s. It was a great choice for us. Because of snacking on things, we had taken along, we weren’t very hungry. Cerwin chose tomato soup, and I chose French onion soup – close to the best French onion soup I have ever eaten.
