Road Trip Day 10 – Spending a Day at Reuben and Judi’s House

This is what welcomed us to their guest room – a basket with coffee, coffee cups and several books. Judi knows we are early risers – and they are not. There was a two-cup electric tea pot for heating the water. This was especially thoughtful since they do not drink coffee.

How nice to wake up early to hot coffee. Thank you, Judi, for being so thoughtful. If you didn’t read yesterday’s post. Judi is our niece – Bob and Doris’ youngest daughter.

After they woke up, it didn’t take long for Kevin and Kinza to challenge us to a few games. Kinza won Candy Land.

Neither Cerwin nor I won a Memory game challenge with Kevin.

Kevin wanted me to take a photo of him making a funny face.

Kinza preferred a pretty face.

Judi was amused by all this as she worked in the kitchen.

Their fuzzy friends

After the morning chores and games were finished Judi took us to Analee’s gravesite where she watered the daisy she planted a few days earlier. Analee is an adopted daughter they loved with all their hearts, but love could not keep her alive as she was born with serious birth deformities. Going to her gravesite was also a way for us to say goodbye, since we could not attend her funeral last winter.

While there I took advantage of getting pictures of a few Queen Anne’s Lace flowers, which were blooming everywhere.

Judi had fun surprising the children by taking them to a nearby park.

Kevin was pleased that he could go the entire length of the monkey bars.

We had one more surprise for the children – a stop at McDonald’s and lunch with Daddy. Reuben was working (construction) in town and has a half hour lunch break. I think he enjoyed it as much as we did.

The children enjoyed listening to stories on my Nook (electronic book). I have probably downloaded two dozen children’s books. They especially enjoyed books where a narrator read to them. They also loved playing a collapsing tile game on my new touch screen laptop.

Oh, what a delightful day.
