Woodbine and Something to Ponder
~~~ Something to Ponder ~~~
Our Road
As of today, our road is still hidden by cornfields – at least as we look at it from our kitchen windows. We can no longer see most vehicles – only those that are taller than cars, pickup trucks, and motorcycles. I love this view.
Facing the Sun
The other morning as I was trying to take in the beautiful morning, I noticed how distinctly our basil and Gerbera daisy were facing the Sun. As I took in the beauty, I thought, “That is what God wants from me… …my full-faced attention”.
Our Lilyturf Is at Its Height of Beauty
It looked especially pretty in the morning sunrise a few days ago.
Bumble Bees Gathering Nectar
I didn’t see the bumblebees at first because I was just admiring the pretty cockscomb flowers at Jakey and Crystal’s patio during Peyton’s birthday party (yesterday’s post). Then I noticed two bumblebees searching for nectar. I had to check the internet to see if Bumble Bees do indeed collect nectar: From the internet: Bumblebees, like […]
It won’t be long before this nut hits the ground.
Gerbera Daisy
I am pleased that our Gerbera Daisy survived the summer and is currently showing off three beautiful blooms. If I remember correctly, the daisy was a hostess gift to us for hosting a Sunday lunch earlier this year.
Clover and Bees
The other day on my walk, I came upon a cute little patch of clover that was blooming. As I looked at the clover, I thought, “Clover and bees go together. There must be some bees nearby.” Sure enough, there was a bee. I love the taste of clover honey. I smiled when I saw […]
Field Corn
The other day I took a walk down our road to see what is happening in the corn fields that line the road. The tassels waved beautifully as a slight breeze moved them. The tassels are responsible for the male part of pollen production. Pollination from the tassels is received by the silk (mostly by […]
A Birthday Lunch with Ian and Nicole
~~~ September 14 ~~~ This time we chose a pizza restaurant in their area (Myerstown), so we could see their apartment afterward. This meal was to celebrate Ian’s August birthday. It was also the date of our 62nd wedding anniversary. I surprised them with this photo, because they thought I was just getting the next […]
We Chose Texas Roadhouse to Celebrate Our 62nd Wedding Anniversary
~~~ Saturday Evening, September 13 ~~~ When looking for the closest Texas Roadhouse, we discovered there is a fairly new one in Ephrata – the closest one to us. We started with house salads. I had blue cheese dressing while Cerwin chose thousand island for his. Our kind waiter took our picture. He was fighting […]
