Red-headed Woodpeckers

They are one of the prettiest birds that come to our feeders.

It is fun to see them again, because they are not here over winter. On this day I saw two at the same time.

This one perched on the light post while the other ate suet at the log feeder.

I have no idea if this is a pair or both female or both male, because their plumage is almost identical.

I love bird-watching in May because some birds recently arrived for a summer stay in our woodlot, while others are just moving through as they head farther south.
