When I tried to spell chrysanthemum, I understood why the name has been reduced to the nickname “mum”. 🙂 I bought this mum last fall so there would some beauty at our front door after the summer flowers in the doorway pot were no longer looking pretty. I was surprised that it survived the winter […]
~~~ Monday, October 11 ~~~ It was easy to hear this equipment about 10 am. Don’t ask me how this works, but the machine picks up the corn stalks, removes the corn from the cob, puts it in a bin and ejects the chopped corn fodder and cob out the back. Just to let you […]
~~~ Saturday, Afternoon October 9 ~~~ We always enjoy attending the yearly birthday party for our great nieces, Peyton and Bailey – granddaughters of Cerwin’s brother, Elvin, and our sister-in-law Pat. Their dad, Jakey, was busy grilling hamburgers and hot dogs when we arrived. Their mom, Crystal (center) was setting up the buffet lunch while […]
Cerwin was determined to get a few things finished before winter – paint the two front doors and trim and the support section under our bay window, plus trim the redbud tree. His first job was to sand the wood that needed to be painted. It was beginning to look shabby. He chose a warm […]
~~~ Thursday, October 7 ~~~ This is what we did the evening after getting home from Maine. We go to eat. 🙂 – French Fries and Milkshakes. In this picture Cerwin is putting ketchup on his fries. Our daughter-in-law Kristen was serving milkshakes at the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church stand. Our grandson Jesse was […]
~~~ Wednesday, October 6 ~~~ We left the Myers shortly before 6 am – ready for a 10-hour drive to our house. That includes about an hour for fuel and meal stops. It was a beautiful morning. The geese were even up early. It takes about an hour to get to Piscataqua River Bridge – […]
~~~ Tuesday Evening, October 5 ~~~ This was a gift to Mark and Diane for his 60th birthday in 2020. However, COVID and weather postponed it until Mark’s 61st birthday. We met Jim (owner of Androscoggin Balloon Adventures) and some of his crew at a Park and Ride in Lewiston, ME. They asked us to […]
~~~ Tuesday, October 5 ~~~ Tuesdays are Mark’s usual day off in his workweek, making it easy to celebrate his special day. Their daughter Hannah also had the day off from the dairy farm and came for a 10 am brunch. Diane made an egg casserole with leftover potatoes and steak from our lunch in […]
~~~ October 4 ~~~ Along the way, Diane entered Sunday River Covered Bridge in her cell phone, so that became our next destination. Along the way we came upon this small bridge. I don’t know if it has a name. Sunday River Bridge Sentences in italics are from internet articles. The 100-foot long, 20-foot wide […]
~~~ October 4 ~~~ It wasn’t peak for the leaves, but there were pretty spots and it was a beautiful day for a drive – without a destination in mind. It was just Cerwin, Diane and Me. Mark was at work. After getting to the Lewiston/Auburn area, we entered “Country Market” in the GPS, because […]
~~~ October 3 ~~~ I enjoyed the view outside Mark and Diane’s living room and kitchen area. The beautiful hydrangea came with the house they bought several years ago. There are a few vegetables in their raised garden boxes, but most things are finished for the year. I love seeing these pretty flowers outside their […]
~~~ Saturday, October 2 ~~~ I enjoy this drive because we get up early enough to head into the sunrise – about an hour or two after we get on the road. At one point we could see the moon. Our drive was fairly normal until we were close to the New Jersey/New York state […]
~~~ Tuesday Evening, September 28 ~~~ We stopped by Jordan’s house before supper because we hadn’t seen the inside since he remodeled the kitchen/dining/living room area. Good job, Jordan. It is beautiful. These two spent most of the evening talking about their recent hunting trips. Jordan just returned from elk hunting in Colorado – with […]
~~~ Sunday Afternoon, September 26 ~~~ After we got home from our lunch, Deb asked her dad if he would like to drive their convertible. He was delighted to do that! Cerwin and Deb While getting into the car, we heard a noisy hawk above us. Cerwin felt like he was having an “old age […]
~~~ Sunday Afternoon, September 26 ~~~ This was Roy and Deb’s choice for their birthday meal for 2021. I love atmosphere with my meals, so this was a real treat for my soul. This restaurant is located on the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. What fun to watch boats and ships going by us. The canal […]
