Photos from the End of September

Now that I finished our Maine trip posts, I will back up to the time my laptop motherboard died – with these pictures on it.

I thought you would enjoy this beauty.

I love hibiscus

Another pretty fall flower. My flower ID ap says it is an Indian Blanket from the daisy and sunflower family.

You can tell that this was a foggy September morning because the corn is still green and unharvested.

A pumpkin decoration on Jakey and Crystal’s front porch.

A pretty September sunset

I mentioned the death of my laptop and saved my computer saga until the end of this post.

When the computer died, I took it to my favorite computer repairman, who diagnosed the death as a motherboard issue. He proceeded to look for a new one, and because we purchased it in 2012 and it was made in China, he had trouble finding a matching motherboard. He finally found one – I think in Korea – so ordered it.

It took most of a week to get to his shop – then didn’t work! πŸ™ I told him to order a new HP laptop for me.

That was about the time we left for Maine. Thankfully Cerwin has a laptop, so I put some things on his computer – from an external hard drive where I store duplicates of my computer stuff – plus I downloaded a few of my programs.

We had to get used to sharing one computer.

We were in Maine – in Chick-a-Dee’s Restaurant – when my computer guy called and said he purchased a few refurbished computers similar to mine. One had a broken screen, so he removed the motherboard and put it in mine. It worked – and I lost nothing on my hard drive or desktop!

I said, “Yay”.

He asked if he should return the HP laptop. I said, “No, Cerwin is ready for a new one. We will keep it.”

We stopped in his shop to pick up the two computers on the afternoon we returned from Maine. Cerwin loves his new computer and mine was working just fine – for two days. Then the motherboard died just like a few weeks earlier.

When I took it back to my computer guy, he agreed, to his surprise, that the same thing happened to the motherboard.

He then moved all my “stuff” to another refurbished computer – which worked fine. When we went to pick it up on Saturday morning (Nov.1) He said, “I have something I want to show in your old computer. The battery was swollen and quite fat in the middle. His conclusion is that the battery is what killed the motherboards.

So here I am, working on a laptop that looks just like my old one – and it is still working.

I told him if this one dies, I will order an HP like Cerwin’s. πŸ™‚

I am incredibly grateful that I did not lose anything from my old computer. Also, most of my important programs were loaded unto Cerwin’s new computer. So, if this one should die, I can be assured that I have the programs I need.
