Sam Rittenhouse with his brand-new 2023 truck.

We knew he had gotten this truck a few days earlier and Cerwin was thinking about an excuse to see it. I suggested that we go to his house and ask him to take us out for lunch – and tell him we will pay. 🙂

Cerwin liked that idea and so did Sam. Thursday late morning what was suited the three of us. Going to see him is much easier than it used to be because he now lives only half-an-hour away instead of almost two hours when he lived in Lansdale.

Sam took us over a few country roads and ended up at the new Fox Meadows Creamery in Leola, which isn’t far from where he now lives.

We had not eaten here yet so were pleased with his choice. The original creamery is located close to our house.

The first thing I did was look for our favorite Nicole who is a cook here. She is dating our grandson, Jordan.

Sam and I each ordered a half House Smoked Turkey Panini and a cup of Tomato Bisque.

Cerwin ordered a Stone Ridge Cheeseburger and Sweet Potato Fries.

On the way back to his place I told Sam that I am going to title this blog entry

“I Want to Be Like Sam When I Grow Up.”

In recent months, he sold his house in Lansdale where he has lived for many, many years, moved to a daughter and son-in-law’s house in Leola and didn’t miss a beat in staying involved in life and ministry.

He is 93 years old and while many people his age are giving up their driver’s license, he bought a new truck.

He is quickly fitting into a new church – where his daughter and son-in-law attend and helps in mentoring men who are going through a Potter’s House program (A Christ-centered addiction recovery and discipleship center) where is daughter Debbie and son-in-law Lanny serve. He also spends many hours a month delivering Highway News for TFCGlobal.
