So, What Did You Do with Your Second Day of the Year?

These pictures were from Friday, December 18, and not today.

Today started cold and rainy. As I am posting this during the late afternoon, it is cool and sunny.

I woke up early, which is normal for me. I like to go to bed early and get up early. 4 to 5 AM is my wakeup time of preference.

My procedure for a day is getting a cup of coffee, looking over my daily bucket list to see what needs to be done – to prepare my brain for my self-made schedule and remind myself of any outside appointments.

After posting my Bible verse photo here, on Facebook, MeWe and Instagram, I read the January 2 devotions in Daily Bread (online) and The Watchman on the Wall (a book given to me by one of the authors – Marsha Harvell. She is a coauthor with her husband).

While enjoying my second cup of coffee, I listened to Daily Audio Bible – read by Brian Hardin. I do that while playing a “brainless” computer game. (It seems to be easier for me to listen and concentrate while doing that.)

Brian reads from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs each day – scheduling it to take one year.

I enjoy his method of reading the Bible since I am mostly retired, because I have more time to listen to his thoughts and insight. If I am busy or have a tight morning schedule, I just listen to the Bible reading.

I learned about his Bible reading through Bible Gateway last spring, so purposed to listen to the entire Bible – Genesis to Revelation – this year. Next year I will try another plan – maybe a chronological reading of the Bible in one year.

After my usual Saturday morning routine, I relaxed with a Hallmark movie, then – after lunch – tackled the things on my bucket list that took some effort: walked on the treadmill and organized the boxes of yarn, buttons, and a few other craft items in the guest room closet.

It feels good to have the three boxes organized and back on the closet floor. A few things went in the trash can and there is a stack of craft books ready for Jubilee Ministries (second-hand store) in Manheim.

Later in the afternoon I began preparing a kettle of chipped dry beef (actually venison) for supper – because Cerwin mentioned that he was hungry for it. He wants it over potatoes tonight. I think I will use the hash browns in the freezer.

Now I am ready to finish preparing supper, then I will settle down in my La-Z-Boy to do some counted cross stitch and watch agriculture programing and music on RFD TV.
