Birthday Supper with Heze and Kayla. She said, “Yes.”

Friday evening, December 4, at Ichiban Japanese Steak & Seafood Restaurant.

Oh, what fun to have supper with our grandson Heze and his girlfriend, Kayla – who arrived from Tennessee a few hours earlier.

I was a bit nervous, because he called me earlier in the week, saying he was going to propose to her before the evening was over – and would I take pictures.

When our waiter saw me take the previous picture, he asked if I would like one that included me. Sure. 🙂

Our clear soup

I enjoy the dressing on their house salad.

The chef started our meal like this.

The fried rice began with an egg.

Onion volcano

We had a fun and flamboyant chef.

Our appetizers (shrimp and mushrooms) and entrees (steak, chicken, vegetables, chicken and scallops).

My vegetables and rice.

Heze waited until the meal was over and the other guests who were seated at our grill left to go home, before getting down on his knee.

The ring – without a flash.

With a flash.

Kayla could not wipe the smile from her face and Heze was relieved that it was over. 🙂 He said he was nervous. I was nervous too. Like, what if the pictures weren’t okay or what he wanted.

When we got outside, she immediately called her parents, a few friends and relatives – sometimes saying, “I am engaged!” or by doing a selfie of her ring.

Congratulations Heze and Kayla!

This makes two weddings for next spring. Our granddaughter Jana and Austin’s wedding is in May. Heze and Kayla are hoping to have theirs a few weeks earlier – in Tennessee.

It is exciting and amazing how quickly a family grows after the grandchildren become adults. We are also expecting two great grandchildren in 2021 – and those four additions are in the first five months. 🙂
