Supper with Jordan and Olya

Wednesday, October 14

I captured the edge of the cow barn as we went by the homestead.

The sun in setting these days when we leave for supper – instead of when we come home.

We had a great time with these two and enjoyed learning more about Olya Hershey and getting caught up on what is going on in Jordan’s life.

They just met on Labor Day weekend. This meal at Tied House was for Jordan’s 2020 birthday.

I almost never get pork chops, but this looked good on the menu, so I chose this Pan-Seared 12 oz. Pork Chop, with grilled herb fingerling potatoes, brussels sprout hash, topped with cherry-fennel chutney. (12 oz. of meat is way too much for me, so I brought half of it home for another meal.)

Cerwin got a 5 oz. Hanger Steak with hasselback potato, horseradish cream, brussels sprout hash and chimichurri.

Olya had a Steak Salad with romaine, hanger steak, rice, red onion, cucumber, tomato, fried onion, chimichurri dressing.

Jordan’s House-made Hot Pastrami with braised red cabbage, swiss cheese, thousand island, Alfred & Sam’s rye bread, served with fries.

Jordan and Olya shared this dessert – if I remember correctly, it was peanut butter and chocolate. Cerwin had a smoked pecan pie. I enjoyed coconut ice cream.

Afterwards we went to see the house which Jordan recently purchased. He thought it was time for him to buy a starter house and began the process of looking for a house during the summer. It was fun to hear about his plans for remodeling. It was built in the late ’50s and is move-in-ready, but does need some upgrading. His immediate plans are to remodel the kitchen.

It came with a pool table and shuffle board in the basement.

Blessings to you, Jordan, as you take this next step in your life.
