Another Trucker on the Road

Thursday, June 11

Sam messaged me during the late morning and asked, “Is Grandpa home after lunch?”

When I said, “Yes”, he said, “Okay. Cool. I have a surprise for him.”

BTW Sam is not a grandson. 🙂 He is a friend of a few of our grandsons and spent a lot of time in our mancave when he and our grandsons were younger. Thus he calls us Grandpa and Grandma – and we love it.

I didn’t tell Cerwin, because I figured that a sweet ’95 Peterbilt would soon be arriving in our driveway.

I loved the sound of the Jake Brake when he slowed down before our driveway as he approached from the north.

Cerwin loved sitting in the seat and hitting the throttle. He hasn’t been in a Peterbilt since 1995.

Cerwin drove an Autocar for 4 years, a Mack for 2, a Peterbilt for 23, and a Kenworth for 11 years. He was at the same place of employment for 40 years – 1966 to 2006. However, the company changed hands a few times. When he started it was Myers Metered Gas and when he retired it was owned by Ferrellgas – and still is today.

Sam had his truck ready for the road by late February/early March – then COVID hit and he wasn’t able to get his paperwork in place because of closed offices. Now he is ready to get on the road with (GFI) Garber Farms. I think it is finally happening this week.

Blessings to you, Sam!
