The Collingsworth Family Concert

Friday Evening, November 8

We were honored to be invited to attend The Collingsworth Family concert by our friends Gene and Rose Gehman. We may have missed that it was happening if they had not invited us on a double date.

If you have never watched Kim Collingsworth play piano and wonder how her fingers find the correct keys – watch this: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Kim+Collingsworth+Hallelujah+Chorus&&view=detail&mid=4C51C01EF7FBFD858EE64C51C01EF7FBFD858EE6&&FORM=VRDGAR

Now you know why she usually gets a standing ovation.

You can hear more of them on YouTube.

Their four children introduced themselves with slides. Three daughters and one son.

Their two grandchildren. They told a cute story about making their granddaughter’s mic live the other week. Her two-year-old brother immediately noticed the difference. The following week he grabbed her mic and she immediately tried to get it back. While they were fighting over the live mic, the family was singing a song about being happy. πŸ™‚

After the family introductions, the extended family sang a few songs. The two sons-in-laws were working on sound and tech things.

I was not surprised that The Collingsworth Family was outstanding, but I was surprised to look up during intermission and see my blog friend Jo-Ann VanDeventer and her husband – from New York.

Jo-Ann and I have been blog friends since 2006 or 2007 and have never met. More recently we became Facebook friends. I’m sorry Mr. VanDeventer, but I do not know your name. I checked on Facebook, but could only find names like Grampie, Dad and Poppy. πŸ™‚

I am still feeling blessed at meeting them. There were 2,000 plus people at Calvary Church near Lancaster – and we were in the same section, only a few rows apart. It felt like a God-thing. πŸ™‚ Next time we need to have a longer visit.

Back to the concert.

Just to let you know how amazing and professional they are – they are going to the White House for a Christmas concert in a few weeks.

They told about going to Kosovo sixteen years ago and having a Brigadier General in the audience. He lives in our area and was also in the audience on Friday night.

Oh, wow! What a fabulous evening. Thank you, Gene and Rose.
