Around Our Yard
~~~ Thursday, May 18 10:14 am ~~~ Our Yarrow was in full bloom. Yarrow blooms for a long time, so there are usually new buds. The Rhododendron was in its last days of blooming. I found a few dark pink blossoms that were still in early bloom. The mint is lush this spring. I’m brewing […]
Feeding a Young Starling
~~~ Friday, May 19 9:53 am ~~~ It was fun to capture this adult starling feeding one of its fledglings. Most starling babies count on their parents to feed them for several days – sometimes up to two weeks – after leaving the nest. I think the adult just noticed that I was watching them.

It’s the Raccoons Again

Baling Winter Rye
~~~ Thursday, May 11 1:15 pm ~~~ I was weeding a few flower beds when this was happening across the road. I must be a farm girl at heart, because I never tire of watching this or smelling the harvested grass. Winter grass (often rye) is planted in the fall. It is a good way […]
Love Is in the Air for the Cardinals
~~~ Sunday, May 7 7:41 am ~~~ Many of our birds are doing what the experts call courtship feeding. These cardinals are the only ones I have been able to capture with my camera. Birdwatching is especially fun in May.
