Trimming the Patio Dogwood Tree
~~~ Monday, June 5 10:05 am ~~~ Cerwin had determined to do this job several days earlier. Since he is retired, he often designates a job per day, sometimes a small job sometimes a bit larger like this one. This tree was a gift to Cerwin 32 years ago – from my siblings – for […]
Smoke from Canada
It still amazes me that smoke from forest fires in Canada can overtake our area in south central Pennsylvania. We could smell it on the second day. By the third day it was moving out and disappearing into the southeastern states.
A Delightful Sunday
~~~ Sunday, June 4 ~~~ The table was set in our garage for a picnic-style lunch with ten friends from church. At lunchtime we opened the garage door to make it feel like we were outside – but free from the breeze and bright sunshine. I used a simple decoration of a small vase of […]
Ferns Soften the Floor of Our Woodsy Memory Garden
It’s nice to see the green ferns while our yard is browning from the lack of rain.
A Birthday Party for Our Friend Nelson
~~~ Saturday Evening, June 3 ~~~ The party was at Nelson and Nancy’s son and daughter-in-law’s place. They have a fabulous view from high up in their mountain home. Nelson and Cerwin. It was fun surprising him. He expected the party was only going to include their children and grandchildren. The meal was delicious. Nancy […]
Stella D’oro Daylilies
It was on June 1 when I first noticed two blooming daylilies. There were lots of buds about ready to burst. I photographed the largest one from a couple of angles – just because it was the first of the summer. Today, June 7, there are lots of beautiful blooms. These daylilies always brighten our […]
Jared’s Graduation from Lancaster County Career & Technology Center – Brownstown Campus
We thoroughly enjoyed attending our grandson, Jared’s graduation from training in Electrical Construction Technology. We watched an interesting slide show presentation of the many departments and activities at Brownstown while waiting for the program to begin. I only photographed a few pictures that related to Jared’s Electrical Construction. Jared is in the center – wearing […]
A Memorial Service and Bald Eagles
~~~ Tuesday, May 30 ~~~ We received a phone on Tuesday morning, May 23 that was difficult for us to comprehend. This was how we learned that our friend Ruth (center left) had died suddenly at the age of 66. I took this photo on Tuesday, April 18 – about a month earlier when several […]
A Robin on Our Patio
We don’t often see Robins on the patio because they like to search for worms in the yard – which is too far away for a good closeup from inside our house. From the Internet: No matter where you live in the United States, you probably have robins living in your yard. Robins are one […]

~~~ Sunday, May 28 White Oak Church ~~~ This year our congregation honored nine high school graduates and one college graduate. Six were in attendance. Congratulations: Cody, Zach, Mason, Darin, Arianna, Caden, Kelli, Owen, Brayden and Rachelle. The high school students graduated from six different schools: Ephrata Mennonite School (2), Warwick High School (2), Home […]
Peonies from My Sister
~~~ Saturday, May 27 ~~~ Nancy was telling me about her pretty peonies at Jana’s graduation party a week earlier. How thoughtful of her to bring us a bouquet. She knew they had a special meaning to us, because the originals came from Cerwin’s mom. That’s a bit of a story. We don’t know where […]
Lunch at Tomato Pie Cafe with Friends
~~~ Friday, May 26 11:30 am ~~~ These two – Emma (I call her Cookie) and Vivian are secret sisters through a program at our church. When Vivian learned that Cookie and I have been friends for a very long time, she decided to surprise Cookie by inviting me along on their dinner date. Cookie […]
Like Snow
~~~ Wednesday, May 24 ~~~ The east wind brought down Locust blossoms like snow. Or was it manna. 🙂 The Locust trees in our woods and on the east end border of the corn field next to us bloom every year, but we don’t remember having an east wind bring so many blossoms down on […]
New Corn
~~~ Tuesday, May 23 ~~~ I enjoy seeing brand new corn rows in the fields next to us. This is the field below our house. This is the field across the road from the previous one. New tender corn stalks are a great reminder of new life.
