April 10 – via Zoom This is us watching and listening. Cerwin listens on his cell phone by Blue Tooth (his hearing aids) and looks at my computer for the visuals. Opening by Marv Shenk This is not the first time our church congregation has been separated by the closure of churches and businesses. According […]
Saturday, April 4 When I heard the sound of farm equipment, I went to the window to see what was going on in the field across the road. Our Amish neighbor was cutting his field of grass. Cerwin said it looks like rye. I am not familiar with winter grass covers for the fields, so […]
The downy woodpecker is one of my favorite birds to watch. The pictures are from a variety of days. Some of the comments are from the internet (in italics) others are mine. The downy can produce many vocal sounds as well as the drumming noise it makes with its beak when it pecks trees. Downy […]
April 8 – Via Zoom Children’s Story by Debbie Rohrer She opened by telling her Sunday School girls how much she misses them. The book she chose to read was The Parable of the Lily by Liz Curtis Higgs – illustrated by Nancy Munger. It began on a cold winter day when Maggie received a […]
Sunday, March 29 Do you recognize that name? I didn’t, but I learned about it when Cerwin ordered a pancake mix from Amazon. He was hungry for easy-to-make blueberry pancakes. They are quite easy to make since you only add water. They are not real blueberries, but quite good. I like anything that is easy […]
Friday, March 27 I am delighted that my seat each morning – while enjoying coffee, devotions, and the morning news – faces the sunrise during the spring and summer months. (The sunrise is farther east and behind our house during the late fall and winter months.) There are some mornings – like this one – […]
Sunday, April 5 Sunday School (via Zoom) Opening: Leland Litzenberger Even though we are not together in our church building, we have a sense of community because of our friendship and the amount of time we have invested in each other’s lives. Something to think about: Are we serving God with our whole heart – […]
Thursday, March 26 Cerwin must rake up hundreds of shellbarks and hickory nuts before he can mow our yard. Notice the piles of nuts – and this is only one section of our yard. When I heard the sound of a helicopter – I looked up and saw that it was Life Lion from Hershey […]
Sunday, April 5 Deb – our youngest daughter, from an hour away – had some food and things she wanted to give us and came yesterday afternoon. (Her husband, Roy, had already gone to their house near his job in Hanover. The reason he wasn’t along.) It was a nice afternoon, so we visited on […]
Friday, April 3 Opening by Glendon Zook “The church is you” – seems more real today when we can’t “go to church.” What comes to mind when you think of Easter? Living hope. Jesus Christ is my “living hope.” Hope We may hope it doesn’t rain. We may hope to meet again. But that kind […]
Tuesday, March 24 The day looked gloomy from the start. “I am looking toward the eastern sky and think the sun is not coming out today – no matter how tall I stand.” “It doesn’t look so great in the western sky either.” “Oh, well. I hear the people world is experiencing a dangerous virus, […]
April 1 – Via Zoom Video Opening – Dustin Martin Lord willing. Do we remember to think and say – Lord willing – because whatever happens – God is in control. Evening Message – Mark Bucher When does God seem like a good God? Is it only when everything is going your way? Is God […]

This maple syrup bucket – holds about 2 […]
Sunday, March 22 This was the first Sunday that we did not have worship in our church building, but enjoyed it by sound only – computer or phone due to the virus. Following lunch, Cerwin planned to take a large box of TFC Global’s Highway News to a friend who has access to businesses where […]
Saturday, March 21 Cerwin brought these pretty carnations home from the grocery store – which helped brighten our kitchen during these early spring days – days when it is still cold and dreary outside. This carnation had broken from its stem, so it made a pretty display in a bud vase on the window sill. […]
Sunday, March 29 – via Zoom Video Sunday School I listened and watched on my laptop. Cerwin watched my laptop while listening through his cell phone’s Bluetooth. Opening Songs: Beautiful recorded music Opening Comments: Matt Patches (Sunday School Superintendent) We are all getting used to change. Today is our first Sunday using Zoom. The only […]
Jere and Kristen have the benefit and sometimes the non-benefit of being our children who live the closest to us. Because of that, we are often the beneficiaries of Kristen’s love for cooking and baking. Below are just a few things she and Jere brought us recently. I think everything was made from her sourdough […]
We love you! Grandpa and Grandma High
I saw this breakfast suggestion, I think on Facebook, the other week and decided to try it. I took this photo before I flipped the eggs – because it looked nicer this way. 🙂 I fried sweet potato pieces with chopped onion and green pepper – added salt and pepper to taste – then made […]
