~~~ Wednesday, October 13 ~~~ I was ready to leave to take a neighbor to a doctor appointment when a delivery truck pulled in behind our garage. He had several boxes, so I went outside to ask if he could back up so I could get out of the garage. Apparently my mind was not […]
~~~ Monday, October 18 ~~~ We enjoyed lunch at Applebee’s by using part of a gift card given to Cerwin for some of the maintenance work he has done at the TFC Global Office for the past few years. Thank you! He recently stopped doing the mowing, snow removal and minor maintenance and turned it […]
~~~ Saturday, October 16 ~~~ Especially when I can be on the inside looking out. 🙂 Rain feels cleansing and refreshing.
~~~ October 16, 20, 21, 22 ~~~ This is continued from the nighttime photos I posted yesterday. By Saturday morning (16th) we had a view again. 🙂 Corn stubble and cobs after the corn was harvested. A few days later they were chopping the corn stalks to prepare for baling. Preparing the corn fodder for […]
~~~ Friday, October 15 ~~~ This corn had been harvested four days earlier, now it was time for our neighbor across the road to bale and pick up the corn fodder. This will probably be used for bedding for his horses and maybe the goats. This Amish farmer uses a combination of equipment. Notice the […]
~~~ Wednesday, October 13 ~~~ Hickory nut leaves Redbud tree Crape Myrtle Seed Pots Dogwood leaves Lilly of the Valley leaves. The geraniums are looking especially pretty. There are a few azalea flowers. Some of our potted flowers are still pretty but looking a bit ratty. Even though it is end of season for leaves […]
~~~ Tuesday Evening, October 12 ~~~ The corn has been harvested, now the neighbor across the road is chopping the leftover cornstalks and cobs in preparation for corn fodder bales. I love country living and having a window view of the neighboring fields. Corn fodder makes good bedding for cattle. There will be follow up […]
When I tried to spell chrysanthemum, I understood why the name has been reduced to the nickname “mum”. 🙂 I bought this mum last fall so there would some beauty at our front door after the summer flowers in the doorway pot were no longer looking pretty. I was surprised that it survived the winter […]
~~~ Monday, October 11 ~~~ It was easy to hear this equipment about 10 am. Don’t ask me how this works, but the machine picks up the corn stalks, removes the corn from the cob, puts it in a bin and ejects the chopped corn fodder and cob out the back. Just to let you […]
~~~ Saturday, Afternoon October 9 ~~~ We always enjoy attending the yearly birthday party for our great nieces, Peyton and Bailey – granddaughters of Cerwin’s brother, Elvin, and our sister-in-law Pat. Their dad, Jakey, was busy grilling hamburgers and hot dogs when we arrived. Their mom, Crystal (center) was setting up the buffet lunch while […]
Cerwin was determined to get a few things finished before winter – paint the two front doors and trim and the support section under our bay window, plus trim the redbud tree. His first job was to sand the wood that needed to be painted. It was beginning to look shabby. He chose a warm […]
~~~ Thursday, October 7 ~~~ This is what we did the evening after getting home from Maine. We go to eat. 🙂 – French Fries and Milkshakes. In this picture Cerwin is putting ketchup on his fries. Our daughter-in-law Kristen was serving milkshakes at the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church stand. Our grandson Jesse was […]
