Follow Up on Cerwin’s Cataract Surgery

Tuesday, April 14

Dr Tien was very pleased with Cerwin’s healing following cataract surgery yesterday.

I asked him two questions: You look so young, how old are you? He said, 35. Then I asked how long he has been doing cataract surgery? He said, 10 years. That means he started at 25!

A nurse told us yesterday, at Cerwin’s right eye surgery, that he was doing 27 cataract surgeries between 6:30 am and 3:30 pm. We highly recommend him for eye care if you live in our area of Pennsylvania. He is on staff at Manning, Rommel & Thode, Lancaster, PA.

Because removing cataracts changes you sight needs, Dr. Tien recommended that Cerwin get +2 power (diopter) reading glasses until his prescription changes in the middle of May. He now only needs glasses for reading. We stopped at a nearby CVS to get them.

Our routine for the next few weeks: 1 eyedrop twice a day for his left eye for 3 weeks. 1 eyedrop four times a day for his right eye until next Monday, then 1 eyedrop twice a day for 3 weeks. It is not easy to give eyedrops to Cerwin! 🙂 It is difficult for him to not squint or blink. Last week’s surgery nurse gave me a few hints on getting the drop into his eye.
