A Memorial Service and Bald Eagles

We received a phone on Tuesday morning, May 23 that was difficult for us to comprehend.

This was how we learned that our friend Ruth (center left) had died suddenly at the age of 66. I took this photo on Tuesday, April 18 – about a month earlier when several TFC retired friends met for lunch – to visit Paul and Debbie from Canada (center right).

Ruth’s family honored her with a meaningful memorial service on May 30th with thoughts and songs she would have enjoyed.

Since our thoughts were on her, we drove by their house on the way home to see if the nearby Bald Eagles were in their nest. They were!

At first we thought there was only one, then as we drove a bit further, we saw three. Ruth’s husband, Jeff, told us two young ones and both parents have been spotted in recent weeks. The nest is within eyesight of their house.

I think the two on the left are the youngsters and the one between the fork of the branch is an adult because if I really zoom in, I see signs of white on its feathers.

It’s still difficult for me to comprehend that Ruth is not here to see this scene.
