A Delightful Evening with Gene and Rose

We had a great evening catching up on each other’s lives. When it was getting close to closing time we asked a restaurant worker, “At what point will we realize that it is time for us to leave?”

She said, “When I hand you the sweeper and ask you to sweep the floor.”

Also, to prove that we had a good time, when we stood up to put our coats on (notice that Cerwin is already wearing his), I realized that I forgot to take a picture. They kindly sat down again so I could prove that we were together.

Before we retired from TFC, we had a variety of reasons to meet with them – committee meetings, etc. They were a key couple in working with us in the ’90’s and early 2000’s when Cerwin and I served fulltime in the Northeast Region. They were an immense help with the Truck Rally.

I think the first time we met them was at a TFC Convention. If I remember correctly, it was shortly before their wedding – probably in the mid-seventies. They now have three (married) sons and something like a dozen grandchildren.

Some of our favorite memories are when their boys were small and we spent several years doing a half-hour skit called The Frumpys. We did lip syncing with old songs and told silly jokes. By 1990 we had to limit our “events” to once a month. 🙂 Their little boys were quite good and a big hit.

We love being retired, but miss seeing them and others who served with us on a regular basis.
