Notes from Sunday Worship

April 14

Sunday school – Called to Remember – Teacher Cole Zimmerman

Are we standing up for Jesus, or standing aside?

Considering Mary’s alabaster box of precious ointment – what are we willing to do for Jesus?

Church – Opening Devotions centered on Palm Sunday – Marv Shenk

Jesus wants to have a triumphal entry into your heart.

We were created to praise God. If we do not praise him, Luke 19: 40 says the stones will. How would you like to be replaced by stones?

Sermon by Carl Groff – Titus 2:1-15

In this section of Titus he puts faces on God’s “grace gifts.” In every generation there are men and women who did not waste God’s grace gifts. Some said they wasted their youth, but never considered their lives wasted after they walked with God. Others were persecuted, but never considered that wasted time.

Things that God is saying to older men:

Be serious – but enjoy life. Older, godly men have often seen the deterioration of life and family, but they know the scriptures and have become sound in their faith.

Things that God is saying to younger men:

Keep God’s commandments. You will have to answer to God on how you treat your wife and children. Be a role-model for your children.

Greater is Christ who is for your family than Satan who is against your family.

Things that God is saying to older women:

Years bring wisdom, patience, and kindness to women. Reach out to your children, grandchildren, and all children. Teach young women to be faithful to their husbands.

What God is saying to younger women:

Do not substitute anything in life for the value of blessing your family. A powerful woman is one who is molding her children for Christ. A powerful woman has a husband who loves and respect her.
