Iron Sharpens Iron

Saturday, April 6 – PointMan Conference Continued

I didn’t take many pictures inside, because we were usually busy in the chapel. It appeared that the conference was well organized.

I wanted to give you an idea of what 700 men looked like in the church sanctuary.

The surprise of the day was when these two guys – John and Gordan – showed up in the chapel during a break. We attend the same church. They weren’t as surprised to see us as we were to see them.

The gym was empty during the meetings, but…

was filled at lunchtime.

I went in to see if I could find Ron at work. In this photo he is checking in on Marlin (trucker from previous post) who was manning TFC’s display table.

I didn’t realize that I was standing next to John and Gordan as I took the previous photo – so introduced them to Ron.

Joanna, look who came to see us in the chapel. For those who don’t know, Joanna is office manager at the TFC office. This is her husband, Craig.

A photo does not do justice to the beauty of this display on a wall in the entrance of the church. It appears that it was done with a jigsaw. We think Hiram Minnich should do this for our church. 🙂

I went inside to take a few more pictures when I saw that TFC’s President, Ron Fraser, was introducing the men to the ministry of TFC.

Two hours later I went inside to observe several afternoon seminars.

Chaplain Joe Matthews led this one on ministering to truck drivers. I was not a surprised to see a small group. When someone asked the large audience how many were truck drivers, only 4 or 5 raised their hands. 🙂

We were busy most of the day, but every time the chapel was full of men, I was occupied in telling them about TFC’s ministry and could not take a picture.

Cerwin thought we had 150 visitors before lunch. There were fewer in the afternoon, but we easily had a total of 200 men come to see the chapel.

We enjoyed talking to one man (one of the speakers) who seemed quite interested and asked many pointed questions and seemed to know many who worked at the TFC office. At a certain point he smiled in response to one of my questions and said he is a new TFC board member. Oh, wow. That is when you hope you represented TFC well. 🙂

Thanks to these two men, I didn’t have to help Cerwin dismantle the steps when the day was over

We followed Marlin out of the church parking lot.

It was a fabulous day!
